EMC ELEVATE
SUMMARY
Elevate is an internal iOS and Android app created for the EMC Sales team based on the current desktop Salesforce dashboard. The goal was to increase productivity and help the sales team exceed their goals. by allowing them to track their quarterly progress on the go. We also wanted to help managers track their team’s progress.
My Role
I was a UX/UI designer on a small team of designers, engineers, and PM. In addition to creating the user interface, I helped with the research, wireframes, prototyping, and user testing.
Research
The biggest challenge was the team’s lack of knowledge of how the Sales team worked and what is important to them. To overcome this challenge, we sent out a survey to all of the sales employees including sales managers and asked them what they liked and did not like about the current dashboard and to rank which information was most important to them while on the field. We also stayed in touch with 2 sales team employees and got their feedback throughout the whole process.
Inspiration
- General Sales graphs & Apps
- BaseCRM
- Health & Fitness & Finance apps with Infographics
- Map my run, Apple Health, Fitbit, Mint
Brainstorming
We divided sections between 3 designers. I was in charge of the onboarding, opportunities (graph), and account details, and, create a new opportunity pages. The design team and project manager collaborated through all initial rough ideas.
Wireframing
I wireframed out my sections of the app and created the screen flow with notes. The Architects Designer compiled all the section to make sure they were all cohesive.
Visual Design
I used a dark blurred background and white text to stay compliant to the EMC mobile marketing brand guidelines. The dark backgrounds and blue accents are inspired by the physical EMC servers - black with blue lights. Information is organized with tiles so that it is easily readable and can be quickly reorganized. The black tiles are all interactive while the white ones are static. The colors used in the infographic correlate with importance. (IE: Red and orange are more urgent.)
USER Testing
I created an Invasion prototype to do some informal user testing and to share a quick interactive version of the app with the team.
SUMMARY
Elevate was released in the EMC internal App Store on October 2015 and as of 2017 has over 700 downloads from the EMC internal app store.
